After the encounter with the rich man asking how he might inherit eternal life, Jesus told His disciples: “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!” (Mark 10:23). He went on to say, “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” (vs. 25). The disciples marveled. Read what happens next:
And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?” But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” (vs. 26-27)
Mark 10:27 isn’t talking about how anything we want to do is possible with God. No. It’s saying that with God salvation is possible. Regardless of how hard or impossible it may seem, salvation is possible for everyone because of God—who He is, what He’s done, and what He promises to do on our behalf. This is great news! There exists no barriers to salvation that God cannot overcome for the willing soul.
For with God all things are possible. (Mark 10:27)
