But as for me, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.” My times are in Your hand. (Psalm 31:14-15 NKJV)
David was bereft, in danger, in great fear, and in deep grief. From this dark place he cries out to God: “Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in trouble; my eye wastes away with grief, yes, my soul and my body! For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away.” He goes on to say, “Fear is on every side; while they take counsel together against me, they scheme to take away my life.” After lamenting his situation, he turns his words and heart to trust God. Amidst all that stress, he reminds himself who is ultimately in control of his life no matter how risky and awful that life felt at the time.
Believer, it is God who is sovereign and in control of your life and the content of your days (Psalm 139:16). No other man, no sickness or disease, no life circumstance has this power. Take heart, God knows all about you and is in control.
